When it came time for me to pave my own path in this life, I knew I wanted to work hard and build a career that would provide my family with financial stability and pride. Originally from Quebec, Canada, I moved to Boston, MA to attend college. After graduating with a Bachelor of Accountancy, I started my career working for a retailer of high-end women's fashion also known as a leading chain of women's wear in the New England area. I moved up the ladder and enjoyed the responsibility and the income. As a single woman embarking on a career, it was exciting. In time I found myself longing for something a little more challenging and was offered a position at a fortune 500 company as assistant to the senior accountant. The position was exactly what I had been looking for.

In December 1997, my husband and I welcomed our first child a daughter, and life for me changed at that moment. The allure of a successful corporate career lost its appeal. I knew that I was no longer satisfied with what I was doing and I longed to be home with my child. My husband and I had built our lifestyle around both of our incomes so walking away from my career was not an option unless I found something to replace my income. My Mom Makes 6 Figures has given me that and so much more. I never could have imagined the joy of working from home with so many incredible, inspiring, and caring women. We live in Passaic NJ and I love working from home and being able to spend quality time with each of my six kids. I always thought I needed more jobs for more security but I have now been able to drop two of my three jobs and I only still teach part time because I love it!

In my former life, I was a career-driven, successful YUPPIE-Young Urban Preppie! I led an international help desk in the consulting industry. From there I moved into mortgages. I was a loan officer for several years before I moved into the home building industry. With one toddler, I settled into a balanced, satisfying career. BUT there was a different plan for me...After about a year working for the builder, my father became very ill. My husband and I brought him to live with us and he passed away several months later. My husband ran a business from home while caring for my father while I went to work. During these months, the home building industry took a plunge. When it was clear there would be lay-offs with my company, I went to my boss and asked to be laid off. My plan was to receive severance while spending every minute possible with my dad during his last days. Once my husband, my 3 year old and I recovered from that loss, we found out I was pregnant. I had been pregnant several times and miscarried so we wanted to be very careful that we would one day meet this baby...and we did! Once we found our footing with two little ones running around, we decided I might try mortgages again. By now the industry had tanked and it was almost impossible to get financing. Needless to say, we determined the best place for me would be at home. That was 6 years ago.

With both boys in school full time now, I started looking to return to work. I interviewed a few places, but I always felt this uneasiness and urgency come over me. "What a change it would be for the kids! Who would be at their school events? What would they do without me after school? It's going to be so difficult to give them what they need and be in an office all day!" All these questions would run through my mind. My dear friend and I had numerous meetings and ideas of what we could do to enhance our lives without changing our lives. That's when she introduced me to My Mom Makes 6 Figures and everything changed. Now I have the "corporate" interaction I was missing, but on my own terms. I can work as much as or as little as I want. It's all up to me. I love the flexibility. I love the support of a great team. I have found my happy place.

In life you may not be sure what road to take, what turn to make or where the journey will lead you! That is so true for me and my family! My husband and I were professional dancers, judges, and choreographers in our initial careers. Then our family grew from one child to two. With this change, we couldn't travel as extensively as we needed to anymore for dance competitions where many months were spent on the road, often more than we were home. Soon after, another turn in the road, my husband was offered a job back at GE coincidentally where he worked prior to our dance careers. I was then able to become a stay-at-home Mom. Now at the school ages of 9 and 11, some of my Mommy time has come back to me. Yet another curve in the road, I have Multiple Sclerosis. I certainly could work at a "conventional" job, but with MS you never know what road you will be on at any particular time. Plus I want to raise my kids, be here when they get home from school, attend everything they are involved in, and always be an integral part of their life. Serving the corporate world for more than 20 years in Finance Management was challenging and a great strategic move in my youth. Being a public school teacher is an honorable job, and one that I truly enjoyed, but as everyone knows, teachers are not paid what they are worth. By observing my colleagues who had, or were getting ready to retire, I realized my retirement someday would not be enough to live on. So, I searched for a way to supplement my income.
